Mt Marathon #5

So I may be going slightly back in time here, but I have to give myself a pat on the back after completing my 5th Mount Marathon Race in Seward every 4th of July.
I trained pretty hard this year, with an unforgiving wedding dress to squeeze into that helped motivate my butt up the mountain each week.

It was extra special this year with my friend Cat, and sister Lucy and bro-in law Dave cheering me on, and my husband was super lovely and took the 4th off which he hasn't done in a bazillion years.

It was cool rollin around with my peeps pre-race, though I was slightly dreading it with the super hot, no breeze weather that was going to make it suck.

There are two waves at the start, the fastest 150 women from last year go first, then the rest 5 mins later. This gives us a bit more of a spread on the trail as it gets chooka full.
And so basically it did completely suck, it was so hot I thought I was going to pass out, but I kept myself motivated and just kept on stridin...
I came in 29th place in 1:14:14, I was really stoked and mega proud! It was hard work...and every year I say not again, then I slowly forget the pain and sign up again.
Craig was all hopped up on some leftover Mike's hard lemonade from the wedding the night before, he kept disappearing into the shed all night long and now I know what he was doing, my number one fan!

We went back to Lucy and Dave's little rented house downtown and drank beer and watched the mens race from the garden, it was seriously the hottest day we all got sunburn!

Apart from some serious blisters and one toenail that is going to most likely fall off in a few months, I held up pretty well!

Marrrieeeed!

Ok, I'm not sure how to sum up the most amazing day ever...so I think pictures do it more justice.

Craig's Dad, Ron performed the marriage ceremony and did a wonderful job, it was so much more personal with him marrying us.

Here's Ron, the groom, and the bestman Casey.

My bridesmaids looked gorgeous and can you believe they picked their dresses from opposite sides of the planet? Cat, on the left is from England and has been my best mate since we were 2. Sarah is my most awesome Alaskan girlfriend who I meet over 5 years ago while we both interned at the Sealife Center.

It was the most picture perfect day in Alaska, we could not have chosen a more beautiful location!
It was great seeing all our family and friends getting along so well, everyone mingled and had a great time.

Check out some pics by our amazing photographer:

We can't wait to see more by him!

Bridal Shower

My girls threw me a bridal shower at Rays Waterfront Restaurant last night, it was fun times and we even had British Crackers which is where the hats came from!

Ina didn't make it down but she bought me some lovely yumsie body lotion and some cute Ed Hardy boy shorts with 'Eternal Love' written on them! Very appropriate.

It was a little windy out that night so our hats were blowing off..

My lovely sewardite ladies..thank god for them in this small town!

I missed my sisters though, it wasn't quite right without them!

Smooth Sailin

Craig was on a time crunch to get the boat back in the water this week, he worked the weekend getting it all already and had it put back in the water on Sunday.

Its pretty cool seeing it going in, I kinda wanted to have a go with the remote control but maybe the harbour wouldn't be down with that..

The engines started up good..then I saw Craig drop the anchor and thought 'Oh Ooo'.
The filters were just abit clogged up and he got it up and running after 30 mins..phew! He left on Monday on his first hunting trip heading to Prince William Sound..gonna help some dudes murder some black bears for 4 days :(

My faithful training partner

Here's Saebo and I headed up the mountain trail....he always detours for some snow lickin..
(It was a hot day!)

When you get to the top of the mountain on race day you have to run around this rock to make sure your time is legit.

Not a bad view of Resurrection Bay eh?

Paintin

So this is what our house has looked like for a long time...lots of unfinished drywalling to be done so we could finally paint the whole house...

Craig worked really hard last week getting it all done while I was slaving away serving bloody marys and halibut and chips...

This is half way...

Here's the sweet new ride towing the scaffolding equipment necessary for the job...

Here's Saebo showing his interest in the project..

Craig's very safe working environment...

And Voila!..Craig finished the kitchen ceiling and put the light boxes in that he has been dreaming about for all these years.

and here's the rest of the ceiling all painted! It looks sooo cool and modern hip we lurrrve it!

We chilled out on our deck and had some sweet steak and salad and watched the sun set around 1130pm...
