Down and Dirty with Outhouses and Septic tanks.

I guess its time for me to start blogging again since I have had 3 days off in a row. The season is winding down here and its time for some Home-Work.

The first on my list is to install one of those highly sought after Septic Systems. This house came at a discount because it was septic-less.

This place is fully plumed with the drain pipe out to the spot where the septic tank is supposed to go but only the sinks, shower and washing machine are hooked up to the drain. There is a spot for a toilet but I guess someone just got a little too ethical to put one in. Instead they would travel outside to poop in the outhouse with that good feeling like they were saving the environment or something.

It took me a minute to rationalize that in any case your sewage is going into a hole. Whether the hole is below an outhouse or at the end of the drainpipe, it all ends up in the hole in the yard. So I promptly installed a new toilet in the bathroom so my baby wouldn’t have to take the walk of shame to the outhouse every morning.

While I was in town the other day I decided to stop off at the septic tank store and load this gynormous 1000 gallon tank in the back of the truck, it is supposedly the newest high density plastic septic tank with an unlimited lifespan. Next step is to get the backhoe out here and start digging up the yard.
