Welcome to Hawaii

Craig and I have had an busy week moving to Hawaii, we actually have spent most of the time over on the Kailua-Kona coast as our friends were here on Vacation. This pic above was the view from their hotel, the Sheraton Keauhou Resort (It was so nice we stayed a night there on Friday).

We enjoyed some cocktails and food with Sara and Clint!

This is the our neighbourhood we are living in, its called the Mauna Loa estates and its so peaceful and quiet. Its a lush rainforest with flowers everywhere.

There are several roads to drive to the Kona side of the island, we took the Saddle Road over the middle of the island and it was really beautiful...here we are in the lava rockbed below the volcano Mauna Kea.

We headed to the famous Hapuna beach that day with our friends, Craig and Clint got some serious sunburn after hiring a boogieboard and spending hours in the ocean.

Craig and I took a pit stop near the south of the island for some pics, it was windy but we are doing a 360' photo shoot which added to the coolness.

Not native to Hawaii, but very cute Cardinal hanging out at the bakery. I ignored the sign 'Do not feed the birds'

We got a mountain facing view at the hotel but I think it was a much better deal..

The hotel had a lovely garden all around the grounds.

We hit the town Friday night and met up with 4 more friends from Alaska, small world!

That night we heard about the earthquake in Chile and joked about the Tsumami coming our way, the next morning we were woken up to sirens going off. We watched it all go down from the safety of the sixth floor, it was a serious letdown we saw perhaps some minor surging.

Once we were allowed to head back down to the pool Craig tried to find somewhere to jump off the rocks.

Instead he resorted to doing his impression of a breaching whale in the safety of the pool. Maholo.
