On Monday I got to handle a snowy owl, peregrine falcon and Osprey! Everyone is super nice at the facility, there are only a handful of staff that get paid so it completely relies on the goodwill of volunteers.
Monday evening I was treated to a lovely dinner at Turnagain house, 20 minutes south of Anchorage. It was a beautiful sunny evening we were all in heaven! Here's a pic of Ina and Ron at the restaurant but it was so sunny the picture is blurry.
The drive back to Anchorage was beautiful with the sunsetting over the inlet..with all the rain
we've been having it was much appreciated.
On Tuesday I got to hold a bald eagle for his medical exam, he has a nasty abscess on his right wing that needs to be flushed out daily! No gory pictures of this but you can see me with him last week at http://birdtlc.blogspot.com/ on the post from Sept 19th.
Craig is just about surviving on the cold north slope, his job is a bit slow and when I asked if he has met any cool people his response was ' I think I'm the only person who hasn't spent time in jail'. Oh dear. Only 8 more days to go baby!
