Katmai Trip Continued

So this is what I did for 10 hours a day looking dang hot in my mustang suit... starred through my binos and shouted out what I saw...'10 WWSC flying..or 40 HADU in water' We would record every bird and mammal seen within 100 metres inshore and offshore along specific transects along the coast.

Here's Kim getting the gear ready in the morning..

This was a highlight for me, seeing some threatened Steller's Eiders. I worked with captive flocks of these birds at the Sealife Center so it was great to see them out in the wild.

I can't forgot Murphy, our captains dog who was a great companion to have along with us. He was very good at cuddling with me on the Ursa.

Beautiful cliffs and mountains along the coastline, its so neat to be out in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the ocean and wildlife for company.

On our last evening we finished early enough to have some land time..we headed to the nearest beach and did some beachcombing and let Murphy run around.

we started heading back to Kodiak a day early as the weather forecast was looking bad so we decided to get out while we still could. It was a beautiful sunny day but the waters were starting to pick up.

Coming back into Kodiak Harbour..

Bye bye Kodiak and Katmai :(

Now I want to convince Craig to take the boat over so we can explore it all some more!
