Bird TLC this week

So this is what the Rough Legged Hawk looks like with feathers on. He is a boootiful bird and has such tiny little talons for a hawk! He is doing better, he has started eating on his own and hopefully will be all healed up in no time.

This guy below was found in Chignik and got flown in from King Salmon on Monday night and when I saw it I thought thats a funny looking juvenile bald eagle and turns out its not..its a Juvenile Golden Eagle! Sooo exciting! Never seen one before and we usually get only 1 a year that comes through Bird TLC's doors.

Unfortunately he is feeling very sorry for himelf as he got into something toxic..his blood count was super low so we gave him a blood transfusion from a bald eagle! We tubed him some fluids too and when I returned him to the mew he did the stinkiest poop I've ever smelt in my life, sooo foul poor guy.
His talons are huge in proportion to his body and he has small feathers coming right down the feet-very different compared to the bald eagles!

On a more positive note, I retured home to a flowering Petunia! This was the mystery seed that was supposed to be Cilantro in the Aerogarden, I transplanted him to a pot and hey presto-he's showed his true colours!
